Series Production

26 Nov

Series Production is the Porto Industry Days activity dedicated to critical reflection on the writing, creation, production and circulation of contemporary series.

At a time when the boundaries between cinema, television and platforms are increasingly unstable, the programme proposes a space for critical thinking on serial formats as a territory for narrative, aesthetic and political experimentation.

Series Production brings together writers, producers, directors, researchers, students and industry professionals to discuss writing processes, development models, production strategies, the relationship with platforms, cultural mediation, and the creative, ethical and industrial challenges raised by series.

In 2026, the activity strengthens its professional and pedagogical dimension through masterclasses, talks, case studies and working sessions around serial creation. The aim is to analyse series not only as an audiovisual production format, but as a central form of contemporary culture, capable of thinking through characters, communities, memory, social conflict and political transformations.

FORMAT

Series Production includes masterclasses, talks with writers and producers, case study presentations, analysis of writing and production processes, and sessions dedicated to the relationship between creation, financing, platforms, television and audiences.

The programme brings together established professionals, emerging creators and students, creating a context for sharing methods, experiences and working tools connected to the development of series.

PARTICIPATION

Participation in Series Production does not depend on an open call. Access to the sessions is defined according to the nature of each activity, venue capacity and the festival’s accreditation conditions.

The sessions are aimed at accredited professionals, students, guests and interested audiences, according to the access conditions defined for each moment of the programme.

OBJECTIVES

Series Production contributes to qualifying the debate around serial creation, promoting a critical reading of its development processes, production models and forms of circulation.

The activity stimulates contact between creators, producers, students and industry professionals, reinforcing the role of Porto Industry Days as a space for thinking, training and encounter around the transformations of contemporary audiovisual creation.

More information about the programme, guests and schedule of the 2026 edition will be available soon.
