In 2025, Fabrico em Série will further consolidate its role as a meeting point for creative practice and critical reflection on the serial format. Recognising the series as a space for aesthetic and narrative experimentation, the programme offers an in-depth look at its writing, production, and cultural mediation dynamics. As the boundaries between cinema and television become increasingly porous, Fabrico em Série brings together authors, producers, researchers, and students to discuss the social and political impact of serial storytelling, as well as the ethical and creative challenges that emerge from its dialogue with platforms and audiences. Through process analysis, method sharing, and discussion of development strategies, the programme stands as a laboratory of ideas for rethinking the contemporary role of series as an artistic form and collaborative practice.
Open to festival accreditation holders and to students of film and communication.

“NEW HUNTING TALES”: FROM SCRATCH TO BROADCAST
Set to premiere on RTP — Portugal’s public broadcaster — “New Hunting Tales” is an anthology of seven standalone stories linked by a common thread: the search for identity and belonging by Portuguese characters of African descent who strive to be part of a society that often ignores and oppresses them. The session will include a screening of the pilot episode and a conversation between producers, authors, and the audience.
Participants: Luís Almeida, Victor Lemos, Lara Mesquita, Fábio Silva and José Fragoso.
This session introduces the annual EURODOC programme, aimed at Portuguese and Brazilian producers interested in applying for the local session taking place in Porto in March 2026. Coordinator Alexia de Montalembert and producer Bruno Cabral will share experiences and outline the opportunities offered by this renowned international network for documentary training and co-production.
Participants: Alexia de Montalembert, Bruno Cabral.
International producer and mentor Myriam Weil reflects on the producer’s role as a mediator between market demands, the ethics of character representation — especially in stories based on high-profile media or political cases — and authorship. Drawing on her experience with EURODOC Series and Federation Studios, she examines production strategies for VOD platforms and discusses contemporary dilemmas of authorship and responsibility when crafting fiction inspired by real events.
AN INTERNATIONAL CASE – “OUSSEKINE”
The series “Oussekine” revisits the killing of Malik Oussekine, a French-Algerian student fatally assaulted by police in Paris in 1986. Built from Lina Soualem’s research and script work, in dialogue with Carole Desbarats, the session unfolds the investigation process, the use of archival materials, and the narrative choices that expose structural racism and its political memory in France. After the conversation with the guests, the first two episodes of the series will be screened.
Participants: Carole Desbarats, Lina Soualem.
