Since the early 2000s and the advent of Quality TV, series have come to be regarded as a full-fledged artistic practice. In fact, what happened with photography also happened with series: painting ceased to be the only medium claiming the right to reproduce reality through images. Paraphrasing Clausewitz, series also continue the art of cinema by other means. On October 10, the Institut Français in Lisbon organized a debate between Portuguese and French professionals on the topic From Film to Series. This initiative opened prospects for bilateral collaboration. Now, as part of Porto/Post/Doc, we have invited Pedro Lopes, screenwriter of the series Glória, directed by Tiago Guedes, as well as Ivo Ferreira and Luís Urbano, director and producer of the series Global Project, along with screenwriter Vincent Poymiro, co-writer of the series The World of Tomorrow, to present the creative processes of these different series. Program director Carole Desbarats, responsible for the program, will moderate activities dedicated to film students and audiovisual professionals.
