Endorsing the enormous talent shown at Exotica, Erotica, Etc., presented by the Greek director Evangelia Kranioti at Porto/Post/Doc 2016, a poetic reflection on solitude, transsexuality and life in a community come to us now. Diving in the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, Obscuro Barroco follows the steps of the human-rights activist and iconic transgender, Luana Muniz, that died on May 2017, the victim of a breath and heart failure, becoming famous for the expression “transvestite is not a mess” ["travesti não é bagunça"]. Luana Munz proves that Brazil is everything that's not wanted by the fanatic cynics. Coloured and joyfully sad, the film recalls Água Viva, Clarice Lispector's novel, depicting an announced change that has been always locked. (César Nóbrega)
