At some point, at the beginning of the film, you hear someone ask, "Why are you filming this?" Throughout the film, Salomé Lamas pursues a captivating essay on the complex issues of identity and the frontier in its various meanings, and its implications on human life. Under the forms of the road movie and the neo-noir, Extinction engages the spectator with diverse narrative forms that also question and reflect on other identities and boundaries, in a permanent dialogue with other works by the author, namely Terra de Ninguém and Eldorado XXI, the latter winner of the Porto/Post/Doc Great Prize in 2016.
