In purpose of a Glauber Rocha’s passage by Cuba, in the beginning of the 70’s, Stones in the Sky explores the relation of that Marxist Caribbean country in the processes of cultural decolonization and the emancipation of the thought which since the beginning of the 60’s spread itself to all Latin America and Africa. The case of the Cuban cinema is shown as a motor of a process that transformed the political, social and cultural conditions of the spaces exploited by capitalism and replace the language of the capitalist colonialism for new liberated cinematographic language. And Glauber Rocha is a key element in this process not only for its importance in the movement of the new Brazilian cinema, as a film-maker (Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol and Terra em Transe between others) and as a theoretician (author of the manifest Estética da Fome, for example). With rhythm thanks to Glauber Rocha’s hypnotic voice, this film explores the images and the sounds as attractions that provoke and contaminate the spectator.  (Paulo Cunha)
