Luck is a guide in this trip to the nocturnal world of the Thaniya’s nightclubs, a Bangkok’s red-light district that attracts Japanese business men, and for her daily routine of luxury prostitute. She will also be the guide on a trip through Thailand up until north, close to Laos’s border, reveling the contradictions of a country in full economic, financial and social ebullience, such as the generational contrast between a country of millenary traditions and with a rush to frenetically live the present. Directed by the Japanese Katsuya Tomita, Bangkok Nites is a hybrid film that explores the most convectional borders between fiction and non-fiction, and with a group of fascinating and complex characters that involve the spectator in a thick and surprising narrative.
