Since they get out of bed in the morning until they lie down again, everything passes slowly for these people in Trás-os-Montes, whose monotonous and often sad life prevents them from dreaming of a better future. "Portugal - One Day at a Time" wasn’t supposed to be a film: the 300 hours of footage were part of the pre-production process to another Canijo’s project. But the lives of these women, who so faithfully represent the country in crisis, deserved to be shared. Thus, through the Anabela Moreira’s sweet look, which shows us the most intimate and mundane without any feeling of invasion of privacy, we sat and heard them: their woes, worries, their bright eyes when they talk about the plot of their favorite soap operas. These aren’t great lives or exciting stories, but on the banality of these existences we catch a glimpse of the most human. (Lídia Queirós)
