The 12th edition of Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival will take place from 20 to 29 November 2025, in the city of Porto. Over ten days, the festival reaffirms itself as a meeting point for filmmakers, audiences and media professionals, promoting works that expand the boundaries of documentary cinema and explore its intersections with fiction, music, popular culture, and the pressing issues of our time.
Thematic Programme – “The Time of a Journey”
At the heart of the 2025 programme is “The Time of a Journey”, the second chapter of the thematic triptych initiated in 2024. This programme departs from the idea of journey as an existential and political gesture, reflecting on displacements motivated by exile, migration, escape, discovery, or reunion. Traversing different geographies and historical moments, the selected films investigate how we move — physically and internally — in response to instability, conflict, or the desire for transformation.
Competitions and Special Programmes
The festival maintains its competitive sections: the International Competition, dedicated to feature films that challenge the boundaries between documentary and fiction; the Medium and Short Film Competition; Cinema Falado, focused on Portuguese-language production and Lusophone cultures; Cinema Novo, showcasing new Portuguese talents; Transmission, centred on the intersections of cinema, music, and pop culture; and the University Jury Prize, awarded by higher education students.
The programme also includes special screenings, auteur retrospectives, the educational programme School Trip, and the Docs4Teens sessions designed for young audiences. Porto’s Planetarium once again hosts Dome Cinema, an immersive space for fulldome audiovisual experiences.
Porto/Post/Doc once again invites collective reflection and celebration of cinema as a space for thought, discovery, and encounter.
